30وَما أَصابَكُم مِن مُصيبَةٍ فَبِما كَسَبَت أَيديكُم وَيَعفو عَن كَثيرٍAli UnalWhatever affliction befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned;1 and yet, He overlooks many (of the wrongs you do).In principle, everyone gets what they deserve. However, an affliction that befalls a believer because of their sins or faults causes, if the believer repents, that sin to be forgiven and a new door to a new reward to be opened. However, those who suffered the greatest sufferings have been the Prophets and their true successors in serving God’s cause; and the afflictions befalling such sinless people cause them to be continuously promoted to higher and higher ranks.
