71 Preface وَحَسِبوا أَلّا تَكونَ فِتنَةٌ فَعَموا وَصَمّوا ثُمَّ تابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيهِم ثُمَّ عَموا وَصَمّوا كَثيرٌ مِنهُم ۚ وَاللَّهُ بَصيرٌ بِما يَعمَلونَYusuf AliThey thought there would be no trial (or punishment); so they became blind and deaf;1 yet God (in mercy) turned to them; yet again many of them became blind and deaf. But God sees well all that they do. That is, they turned away their eyes from God’s Signs and they turned a deaf ear to God’s Message.
