12بَل ظَنَنتُم أَن لَن يَنقَلِبَ الرَّسولُ وَالمُؤمِنونَ إِلىٰ أَهليهِم أَبَدًا وَزُيِّنَ ذٰلِكَ في قُلوبِكُم وَظَنَنتُم ظَنَّ السَّوءِ وَكُنتُم قَومًا بورًاMuhammad AsadNay, you thought that the Apostle and the believers would never return to their kith and kin: and this seemed goodly to your hearts.1 And you entertained [such] evil thoughts because you have always been people devoid of all good!"Implying that the real sympathies of those bedouin were with the pagan Quraysh rather than with the Muslims.
