12هُوَ الَّذي يُريكُمُ البَرقَ خَوفًا وَطَمَعًا وَيُنشِئُ السَّحابَ الثِّقالَMuhammad AsadHE IT IS who displays before you the lightning, to give rise to [both] fear and hope,1 and calls heavy clouds into being;I.e., hope of rain, which in the Qur'an frequently symbolizes faith and spiritual life. With this verse, the discourse returns to the theme enunciated at the beginning of this surah (verses 2-4): namely, to the evidence of a consciously devised plan and purpose inherent in all nature and thus, of the existence of God.
