8 Preface فَإِذَا النُّجومُ طُمِسَتYusuf AliThen when the stars become dim;1The lustre of the stars will become dim; in fact they will disappear: cf. 81:2, and 82:2. The heaven’s canopy will be torn asunder: cf. 82:1, and 73:18. The mountains will be uprooted and fly about like dust: cf. 69:14, 81:3, etc. All the old landmarks of the physical world as we know them will be swept away. (R).
