2 Preface اتَّخَذوا أَيمانَهُم جُنَّةً فَصَدّوا عَن سَبيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُم ساءَ ما كانوا يَعمَلونَYusuf AliThey have made their oaths1 a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the Path of God. truly evil are their deeds. Cf. 58:16 and n. 5357. When they say that Muḥammad is the Prophet of God, it is God’s own truth: but what is in their hearts? Nothing but falsehood.
