42وَلَقَد أَرسَلنا إِلىٰ أُمَمٍ مِن قَبلِكَ فَأَخَذناهُم بِالبَأساءِ وَالضَّرّاءِ لَعَلَّهُم يَتَضَرَّعونَGeorge SaleAnd indeed We sent Messengers to peoples before thee; then We afflicted them with poverty and adversity that they might humble themselves.
