44 Preface وَما آتَيناهُم مِن كُتُبٍ يَدرُسونَها ۖ وَما أَرسَلنا إِلَيهِم قَبلَكَ مِن نَذيرٍYusuf AliBut We had not given them Books which they could study, nor sent messengers1 to them before thee as Warners.The ancestors (as in the case of the Arabs of the Times of Ignorance) had received no revelation of the clear kind which a messenger and a Book bring them. This is a reason for welcoming, not for rejecting, new Truth.
