Sura 21
Aya 26
26
وَقالُوا اتَّخَذَ الرَّحمٰنُ وَلَدًا ۗ سُبحانَهُ ۚ بَل عِبادٌ مُكرَمونَ

Yusuf Ali

And they say: “(God) Most Gracious has begotten1 offspring.” Glory to Him! they are (but) servants raised to honour.
  • This refers both to the Trinitarian superstition that God has begotten a son, and to the Arab superstition that the angels were daughters of God. All such superstitions are derogatory to the glory of God. The prophets and angels are no more than servants of God: they are raised high in honour, and therefore they deserve our highest respect, but not our worship.
