8 Preface وَقالَ موسىٰ إِن تَكفُروا أَنتُم وَمَن فِي الأَرضِ جَميعًا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ حَميدٌYusuf AliAnd Moses said: “If ye show ingratitude,1 ye and all on earth together, yet is God free of all wants,2 worthy of all praise.Ingratitude not only in feeling or words, but in disobedience, and willful rejection and rebellion. If the whole of you band together against God, you do not detract from God’s power one atom, because God does not depend upon you for anything, and His goodness and righteousness and praise worthiness cannot be called into question by your contumacy.Cf. 22:64, 29:6, 35:15, and 47:38.
