42 Preface وَقَد مَكَرَ الَّذينَ مِن قَبلِهِم فَلِلَّهِ المَكرُ جَميعًا ۖ يَعلَمُ ما تَكسِبُ كُلُّ نَفسٍ ۗ وَسَيَعلَمُ الكُفّارُ لِمَن عُقبَى الدّارِAli Quli QaraiThose who were before them [also] schemed;1 yet all devising belongs to Allah. He knows what every soul earns. Soon the faithless will know in whose favour the outcome of that abode will be. Ellipsis. The omitted phrase is ‘but their plotting was of no avail to them.’
