Preface

وَجَعَلنا سِراجًا وَهّاجًا

Yusuf Ali

And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour?¹

That is, the sun. Cf. 25:61; 33:46 (where it is used metaphorically for the Prophet); and 71:16.
