14 Preface وَلِلَّهِ مُلكُ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ ۚ يَغفِرُ لِمَن يَشاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشاءُ ۚ وَكانَ اللَّهُ غَفورًا رَحيمًاYusuf AliTo God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: He forgives whom He wills,1 and He punishes whom He wills: but God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.Evil must inevitably have its punishment, but there is one way of escape, viz., through repentance and the Mercy of God. God’s Justice will punish, but God’s Mercy will forgive; and the Mercy is the predominant feature in God’s universe: “He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
