7 Preface لَقَد حَقَّ القَولُ عَلىٰ أَكثَرِهِم فَهُم لا يُؤمِنونَYusuf AliThe Word is proved true1 against the greater part of them: for they do not believe.Cf. 7:30, and n. 1012; also 17:16, and n. 2193. If people deliberately and obstinately refuse “to believe”, i.e., to receive guidance and admonition, the result must be that God’s grace and mercy are withdrawn from them. Their own perversity inevitably blocks up all channels for their correction.
