62 Preface إِنَّ الَّذينَ آمَنوا وَالَّذينَ هادوا وَالنَّصارىٰ وَالصّابِئينَ مَن آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَاليَومِ الآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صالِحًا فَلَهُم أَجرُهُم عِندَ رَبِّهِم وَلا خَوفٌ عَلَيهِم وَلا هُم يَحزَنونَAhmed AliSurely the believers and the Jews, Nazareans1 and the Sabians, whoever believes in God and the Last Day, and whosoever does right, shall have his reward with his Lord and will neither have fear nor regret. The word used for Christians in the Qur’an is Nasara, Nazareans, to whose hierarchy Jesus belonged; and presents Jesus’s original Nazarean position, obscured after the rise of Pauline Christianity.
