67 Preface وَإِذا مَسَّكُمُ الضُّرُّ فِي البَحرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدعونَ إِلّا إِيّاهُ ۖ فَلَمّا نَجّاكُم إِلَى البَرِّ أَعرَضتُم ۚ وَكانَ الإِنسانُ كَفورًاYusuf AliWhen distress seizes you at sea, those that ye call upon - besides Himself - leave you in the lurch! but when He brings you back safe to land, ye turn away (from Him). Most ungrateful1 is man! Against God’s gracious gifts and mercies is contrasted man’s ingratitude. In danger he remembers God, the One True God, but relapses into his own fancies when the danger is past., Cf. also 10:22-23. (R).
