73وَيَعبُدونَ مِن دونِ اللَّهِ ما لا يَملِكُ لَهُم رِزقًا مِنَ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ شَيئًا وَلا يَستَطيعونَMuhammad Asadand will they [continue to] worship, instead of God, something that has it not within its power to provide for them any sustenance whatever from the heavens or the earth,1 and can do nothing at all?For the comprehensive meaning embodied in the term rizq, see the first sentence of note 4 on 2:3.
