29يوسُفُ أَعرِض عَن هٰذا ۚ وَاستَغفِري لِذَنبِكِ ۖ إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ الخاطِئينَMuhammad Asad[But,] Joseph, let this pass!1 And thou, [O wife,] ask forgiveness for thy sin - for, verily, thou hast been greatly at fault!"Lit., "turn aside from this". According to almost all the commentators, the meaning is, "do not mention this to anyone", the implication being that the husband was prepared to forgive and forget.
