74فَلَمّا ذَهَبَ عَن إِبراهيمَ الرَّوعُ وَجاءَتهُ البُشرىٰ يُجادِلُنا في قَومِ لوطٍMuhammad AsadAnd when the fear had left Abraham, and the glad tiding had been conveyed to him, he began to plead with Us for Lot's people:1According to all commentators, this means "he pleaded [lit., "argued"] with Our messengers" (who, as is evident from 29:31, had announced to him the impending doom of Sodom and Gomorrah), and not with God Himself.
