9فَأُمُّهُ هاوِيَةٌMuhammad Asadshall be engulfed by an abyss.1Lit., "his mother [i.e., goal] will be an abyss", sc., of suffering and despair. The term "mother" (umm) is used idiomatically to denote something that embraces or enfolds.
