Chapter 97

The Ordainmental-Qadr ( القدر )

»The surah that mentions the moment in which God first revealed the Quran, calling it The Ordainment. It is named after the phrase “the night of ordainment” (laylay al-qadr), mentioned in verse 1. The surah celebrates the night when the first revelation of the Quran was sent down.«

The surah is also known as Determination, Honour, Power, The Glory, The Night of Empowering Decree, The Night of Glory, The Night of Power

بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

Omar & Omar: With the name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful,

إِنّا أَنزَلناهُ في لَيلَةِ القَدرِ

We began to reveal it (- the Qur'ân) during the Night of Majesty (- a Night usually in the last ten days of the month of Ramadzân).
