49 Preface وَمِنهُم مَن يَقولُ ائذَن لي وَلا تَفتِنّي ۚ أَلا فِي الفِتنَةِ سَقَطوا ۗ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحيطَةٌ بِالكافِرينَAli Quli QaraiAmong them there are some who say, ‘Give me leave, and do not put me to temptation.’1 Look! They have already fallen into temptation2 and indeed hell besieges the faithless. Or ‘do not push me into sinfulness (or unfaith),’ or ‘do not put me in a predicament.’ Cf.
