79 Preface فَتَوَلّىٰ عَنهُم وَقالَ يا قَومِ لَقَد أَبلَغتُكُم رِسالَةَ رَبّي وَنَصَحتُ لَكُم وَلٰكِن لا تُحِبّونَ النّاصِحينَYusuf AliSo Ṣālih left them,1 saying: “O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel, but ye love not good counsellors!”Ṣālih was saved by God’s mercy as a just and righteous man. His speech here may be either a parting warning, or it may be a soliloquy lamenting the destruction of his people for their sin and folly.
