42وَلَقَد أَرسَلنا إِلىٰ أُمَمٍ مِن قَبلِكَ فَأَخَذناهُم بِالبَأساءِ وَالضَّرّاءِ لَعَلَّهُم يَتَضَرَّعونَN. J. DawoodWe sent forth apostles before you to other nations, and afflicted them with calamities and misfortunes so that they might humble themselves.
