24انظُر كَيفَ كَذَبوا عَلىٰ أَنفُسِهِم ۚ وَضَلَّ عَنهُم ما كانوا يَفتَرونَMuhammad AsadBehold how they have lied to themselves1 - and [how] their false imagery has forsaken them!I.e., by allowing themselves to think, in their lifetime, that their beliefs did not offend against the principle of God's oneness (Razi).
