131ذٰلِكَ أَن لَم يَكُن رَبُّكَ مُهلِكَ القُرىٰ بِظُلمٍ وَأَهلُها غافِلونَMuhammad AsadAnd so it is that thy Sustainer would never destroy a community1 for its wrongdoing so long as its people are still unaware [of the meaning of right and wrong]:Lit., "communities". The term qaryah (lit., "town", "village" or "land") denotes also the people of a town or land - in short, a "community" - and it is in this sense that this term is mostly, though not always, used in the Qur'an.
