120وَذَروا ظاهِرَ الإِثمِ وَباطِنَهُ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذينَ يَكسِبونَ الإِثمَ سَيُجزَونَ بِما كانوا يَقتَرِفونَMuhammad AsadBut abstain from sinning,1 be it open or secret - for, behold, those who commit sins shall be requited for all that they have earned.This injunction connects with verse 118, thus: "Eat, then, of that over which God's name has been pronounced..., but abstain from sinning" - i.e., "do not go beyond that which God has made lawful to you".
