33يا مَعشَرَ الجِنِّ وَالإِنسِ إِنِ استَطَعتُم أَن تَنفُذوا مِن أَقطارِ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ فَانفُذوا ۚ لا تَنفُذونَ إِلّا بِسُلطانٍAli UnalO you assembly of jinn and humankind! If you are able to pass through and beyond the spherical regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through. You will not pass through except with an authority (spiritual or scientific).1This verse states that it is possible to travel and even go beyond the regions or layers of the heavens and the earth. God’s Messenger, upon him be peace and blessings, achieved this both in his body and spirit, which we call the Ascension, and showed that it is possible for every one to do it in spirit. The verse also suggests that it can be possible to make this journey by means of an authority (scientific knowledge). However, it may not be possible to go beyond the heavens by means of science. However, the verse may also be suggesting that the immaterial dimensions of existence can “scientifically” be discovered and established. The word aqtār, which we have translated as spherical regions, means regions or layers with a diameter, and, therefore, spherical regions.
