21 Preface ۞ وَاذكُر أَخا عادٍ إِذ أَنذَرَ قَومَهُ بِالأَحقافِ وَقَد خَلَتِ النُّذُرُ مِن بَينِ يَدَيهِ وَمِن خَلفِهِ أَلّا تَعبُدوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ إِنّي أَخافُ عَلَيكُم عَذابَ يَومٍ عَظيمٍAli Quli QaraiAnd mention [Hūd] the brother of ʿĀd, when he warned his people at Aḥqāf —and warners have passed away before and after him— saying, ‘Do not worship anyone but Allah. Indeed I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous day.’
