20 Preface وَإِنّي عُذتُ بِرَبّي وَرَبِّكُم أَن تَرجُمونِYusuf Ali“For me, I have sought1 safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me.2It is no use their plotting his death or his vilification; for his safety is in God. As he truly says, “God is not only my Lord, but your Lord also; your responsibility arises apart from my preaching, but I preach in order to remind you of it.”“Injuring me”: literally “stoning me”. “Stoning may be here symbolical of any injury or vilification.
