45وَاسأَل مَن أَرسَلنا مِن قَبلِكَ مِن رُسُلِنا أَجَعَلنا مِن دونِ الرَّحمٰنِ آلِهَةً يُعبَدونَMuhammad AsadYet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time1 whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped!I.e., "look into the earlier revelations and ask thyself"
