40أَفَأَنتَ تُسمِعُ الصُّمَّ أَو تَهدِي العُميَ وَمَن كانَ في ضَلالٍ مُبينٍMuhammad AsadCANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error?1This rhetorical question implies a negative answer: cf. 35:22 - "thou canst not make hear such as are [deaf of heart like the dead] in the graves".
