28 Preface وَجَعَلَها كَلِمَةً باقِيَةً في عَقِبِهِ لَعَلَّهُم يَرجِعونَAli Quli QaraiAnd He made it1 a lasting word among his posterity so that they may come back [to the right path]. That is, the word of tawḥīd, ‘There is no god except Allah,’ the monotheistic creed of Abraham, or, in accordance with the traditions of the Imams Muḥammad al-Bāqir and Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq (ʿa) Abraham’s imamate (cf. 2:124; Tafsīr al-Ṣāfī, Majmaʿ al-Bayān).
