32 Preface فَقالَ إِنّي أَحبَبتُ حُبَّ الخَيرِ عَن ذِكرِ رَبّي حَتّىٰ تَوارَت بِالحِجابِAhmed AliHe said: “The love of horses1 is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;” and when they were out of sight, (he said): Khair means what is desirable, beautiful, profitable. Arabs called their horses khair for their profitability. In verse 33 masaha means rubbing or stroking, not to slash or cut off.
