14وَلَو دُخِلَت عَلَيهِم مِن أَقطارِها ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا الفِتنَةَ لَآتَوها وَما تَلَبَّثوا بِها إِلّا يَسيرًاMuhammad AsadNow if their town had been stormed,1 and they had been asked [by the enemy] to commit apostasy, [the hypocrites] would have done so without much delay2Lit., "if entry to them had been forced".Lit., "and would not have tarried more than a little [while]".
