104 Preface يَومَ نَطوِي السَّماءَ كَطَيِّ السِّجِلِّ لِلكُتُبِ ۚ كَما بَدَأنا أَوَّلَ خَلقٍ نُعيدُهُ ۚ وَعدًا عَلَينا ۚ إِنّا كُنّا فاعِلينَYusuf AliThe Day that We roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed),- even as We produced the first creation, so shall We produce1 a new one: a promise We have undertaken: truly shall We fulfil it.The world?the universe?###as we know it, will be folded up like a scroll of parchment, for it will have done its work. If God created all this world out of nothing, He can create an entirely new heaven and a new earth, on a plane of which we can form no conception in our present life. And He will do so, for that is His promise. Some Commentators understand Sijill to be the name of the Recording Angel who closes the Book of a man’s Deeds after the man’s death (Cf. 39:67).
