Sura 2
Aya 173
173

Mir Aneesuddin

Forbidden to you is only (that which is) dead and blood and flesh of swine and that over which (a name) other than that of Allah has been invoked; but if anyone is driven to necessity (being helplessly forced to eat), neither desiring it nor revolting, then there is no sin on him, Allah is certainly Protectively Forgiving1, Merciful.
  • Ghafoor: The words 'Ghafrun and Ghafeer' mean to cover, protect, guard etc. The word 'Ghafara' means to forgive, pardon etc. The root alphabets of the word Ghafoor appear to convey the sense of protection as well as forgiveness, therefore the words 'Ghafoor, Ghaffar', etc. have been translated as 'Protectively Forgiving.'
