33 Preface وَلا تَقتُلُوا النَّفسَ الَّتي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلّا بِالحَقِّ ۗ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظلومًا فَقَد جَعَلنا لِوَلِيِّهِ سُلطانًا فَلا يُسرِف فِي القَتلِ ۖ إِنَّهُ كانَ مَنصورًاAli Quli QaraiDo not kill a soul [whose life] Allah has made inviolable, except with due cause, and whoever is killed wrongfully, We have certainly given his heir an authority. But let him not commit any excess in killing,1 for he enjoys the support [of law]. Such as mutilating the body of the murderer, or killing someone other than the guilty person for the sake of vengeance.
