Chapter 113

The Daybreakal-Falaq ( الفلق )

»The surah that opens with the mention of God as the Lord of The Daybreak and that teaches one to seek refuge in Him from the evil in creation and from all who envy the blessings of God in others. It takes its name from “the daybreak” (al-falaq) mentioned in verse 1. The surah is used as an invocation against evil.«

The surah is also known as The Dawn, The Rising Day

بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

Uzunoglu et al.: In the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Compassionate.,

قُل أَعوذُ بِرَبِّ الفَلَقِ

Uzunoglu et al.

This sūrah takes its name from a word which occurs in the first verse. This and the following sūrah are prayers for protection, being known as the Muʿawwidhatayn.
Say: “I take refuge with the Lord of the Daybreak.
