Chapter 111

Palm Fibreal-Masad ( المسد )

»The surah that mentions the Palm Fibre rope that in Hellfire shall be twisted around the neck of the wife of the Prophet’s uncle, who bitterly opposed Islam; for she took great pride in wearing an ostentatious necklace she became known for and would slip by night to strew thorns and prickly plants in the Prophet’s path to injure his feet. It takes its name from verse 5 in which the phrase “ḥablun min masad” (meaning “a rope of palm fibre”) occurs.«

بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

: V mene Boha milostivého, v moci ktorého je milosť

تَبَّت يَدا أَبي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

Prehrali (zahynuli) a do bludu sa dostali obe ruky Abú Lahaba a prehral (zahynul) a do bludu sa dostal (i sám Abú Lahab) ,1
  • Bezvýznamné sa stane všetko, čo Abú Lahab v živote robil a jeho miestom bude peklo. Abú Lahab bol jedným zo strýkov proroka Muhammada (p.) a jeho žena sa nazývala Um Jamil. Obaja, Abú Lahab a jeho žena neznášali a nenávideli proroka (p.) a jeho posolstvo a vždy sa mu snažili ubližovať.
