And We made the people (i.e. the Children of Israel) who were powerless and oppressed the inheritors of the east and the west of the land (Egypt and Syria) wherein We had placed blessing. And (in this way) a fair promise of your Lord with the Children of Israel was fulfilled because they remained steadfast (in the face of Pharaoh’s tyranny and oppression). And We destroyed (those magnificent castles) which Pharaoh and his people had built, and those towers (and the gardens) too which they used to raise high.
