Sura 6
Aya 73
73

Muhammad Asad

And He it is who has created the heavens and the earth in accordance with [an inner] truth1 - and whenever He says, "Be," His word comes true; and His will be the dominion on the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is blown. He knows all that is beyond the reach of a created being's perception, as well as all that can be witnessed by a creature's senses or mind:2 for He alone is truly wise, all-aware.
  • See surah 10, note 11.
  • The term ash-shahadah (lit., "that which is [or "can be"] witnessed") is used in this and similar contexts as the exact antithesis of al-ghayb ("that which is beyond the reach of a created being's perception"). Thus, it circumscribes those aspects of reality which can be sensually or conceptually grasped by a created being.
